Substance Abuse Module

Target audience: Nurses and healthcare providers working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, health departments.

The seminar's focus is on the medical and social perspectives of substance abuse in the areas of chronic pain management and adolescent substance abuse. Note: This module requires a username and password.

Long Term Care Institute

Target audience: These case studies will replace the two day course previously offered as part of the Long Term Care Institute. The eleven cases will complete the third segment in the Long Term Care Certificate Program.

The eleven cases will complete the third segment in the Long Term Care Certificate Program. Geriatric Case Studies

NC BON Continuing Competence: This program helps meet Dimension One, Two, Three, Four: Professional Responsibility; Knowledge-based Practice; Legal/Ethical Practice; Collaborative Practice.

Target audience: RNs and LPNs/NAs from hospitals and LTC facilities

This series is an on-line Geriatric Case Studies for RNs or LPNs or CNAs! Each case follows a standardized format with introductory information concerning a patient, such as diagnosis, presenting symptoms, setting and other characters present. Focused questions guide the initial discussion of the situation, as the case unfolds, more information is provided. The additional information may include changing symptoms, additional assessment data, and changes in setting or illness trajectory. The nursing interventions identified have proven effective in preventing both cognitive and functional declines in hospitalized older adults. Note: This module requires a username and password.

Recognizing Renal Failure in Hospitalized Patients

Target audience: This course is designed for staff nurses assuming the care of hospitalized patients.

This program is designed to provide an overview of acute renal failure, including early signs and symptoms, identifying patients at risk for acute renal failure, and appropriate interventions. By knowing the three types of renal failure and their etiologies you will be able to identify and intervene quickly for a patient experiencing acute renal failure. This course also will address factors contributing to the development of acute renal failure and provide useful information to assist nurses in the assessment and identification of these patients. Note: this module requires a username and password.

Nurse Managers Leadership Series

Target audience: Nurse Managers working in various health care facilities.

This nine module Leadership Series will address leadership principles and strategies which will facilitate effective leadership. Content will include: leadership principles, theories, & styles; personal, organizational, & risk communication strategies; motivation techniques & power sources; evidenced-based practice; delegation, accountability, & responsibility; conflict, conflict management strategies, bullying, & lateral violence, & conflict resolution; and survival strategies for nurse managers.
