Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7460
Registration can be completed in four ways:
- We are now accepting payment through our new online registration system. Please use the “Register” button for each class to register. If you have any difficulties, are registering a group of six or more people or using a VIP card, please call The Center For Lifelong Learning at (919)966-3638
- If 5 or more persons from the same facility/agency register at the same time to attend the same CLL program, a 6th person may attend for free. Please notify us if your agency will use this group rate option.
- If the program is full and you are placed on a waiting list, we will notify you immediately.
- If you are placed on a waiting list and have included payment with your registration, we will hold your payment until we can confirm your registration.
- If you register less than 48 hours prior to a program, on-line registration will not be available. Please call our CLL office at (919) 966-3638 to see if there is space available, and to complete registration and provide payment.
- If you arrive on the day of a program and payment has not been received by our office, your name will not be listed on the sign-in sheet. If space remains in the program, you will be processed as a walk-in with an additional administrative fee of 25% and no available JMJ scholarship.
- Walk-ins will be accommodated as space allows on the day of the program. A walk-in fee of 25% will be added to the registration fee for walk-ins. No JMJ scholarships are available on the day of the program. Please call the office at (919) 966-3638 in advance to check on space availability.
- Verification of attendance is required for single and multiple day CLL activities in order for participants to receive a certificate documenting successful completion of the activity. Attendance is verified by participants completing the "sign-in" sheet for the activity and the NEW Verification of Attendance form.
- RNs and Nurse practitioners will receive ANCC contact hours for attending our CLL programs. ANCC contact hours are nursing-specific credit hours. ANCC stands for "American Nurses Credentialing Center," our accreditation organization.
- ANCC contact hours are based on a 60-minute hour of instruction. So, a CLL program with 6.5 hours of instruction provides 6.5 ANCC contact hours to nurses.
- Most CLL courses start with Registration at 8am, course starting at 8:30 and ending around 4:30. Please ask for a flier with the specific start and stop times of your course.
- The Friday Center is located at 100 Friday Center Drive, approximately three miles east of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, just off Highway 54 East (Raleigh Road). The Center is located about 2 miles from Interstate 40 (take exit 273 towards Chapel Hill).
- To see a map of the Friday Center as well as driving directions, please click on the following link: to http://www.fridaycenter.unc.edu/directions/index.htm.
- Also, you may find this Google Map of the Friday Center location helpful.
- Parking is free in the Friday Center Visitors’ lot. This lot is located on your right after you pass the Friday Center itself. DO NOT park in the first lot on your right before the Friday center as this is the CAP program (Commuter Alternative Program) and you will receive a ticket.
- There is the Dogwood Visitors parking Deck across from UNC Hospitals where you can park. This deck charges by the hour with the current rate of $1.25 an hour with a maximum of $8.00 per day. Click here for directions.
- From the parking deck: The parking deck is directly across from UNC Hospitals. Cross the street toward the hospital. Turn toward your left (toward Columbia Street). Walk to the intersection of Columbia Street and Manning Drive (1 Block). Turn right onto Columbia. Walk roughly 2 blocks and the School of Nursing (Carrington Hall) is on your right. The school is on the corner of Columbia Street and Medical Drive. Please allow about 15-20 minutes for parking and walking for the parking deck to the school.
- The Center for Lifelong Learning office and L700 CLL classroom are located in the new addition to Carrington Hall. The best entrance to use is the one located across from the Health Affairs bookstore on Medical Drive. You will enter the building on the lobby (L) level. Come down the hallway to the CLL Dept office or the CLL classroom (L700).
- Generally, lunch is included for full day conference sessions. Please check the brochure of the conference you are attending as it will be indicated if lunch is provided.
- Participants who attend 6 conferences and submit their fully stamped or signed VIP card to a CLL staff member will receive a free certificate by mail for a one day conference. Certificates will be mailed to participants only after said conferences have been verified. Participants should allow at least two to three weeks to receive the certificate.
- The VIP program began on January 1, 2003. This program is valid for conferences held after this date only. There is no expiration date for the program.
- Any person who attends a conference sponsored by UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing is eligible. Conferences by UNC Hospitals are not eligible for redemption.
- Cards will be stamped by a CLL staff member during lunch and any session breaks of the conference attended. Cards will not be stamped during morning registration.
- Attendance in any course up to three days in length sponsored by UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing Center for Lifelong Learning will be counted as one conference in the VIP program. Attendance in a four or five day course will count as two conferences in the VIP program.
- The James M. Johnston Scholarship is open to any registered nurse at time of registration, and provides a discounted rate for selected CLL conferences. These funds are granted on a first-come/first-served basis. Due to a limited number of scholarships, early registration with payment is recommended.
- When registering online please indicate that you are an Advance Practice Nurse, RN or LPN during registration and if the funds are still available for disbursement it will be applied to your fee.
- Raleigh Durham International (RDU) is the local airport servicing Chapel Hill and our programs. It is serviced by several transportation companies including Supershuttle our recommended choice for groups coming or going to the airport.
- Some CLL educational offerings are videotaped for use in our distance education programs. Speakers and their power points are captured. The backs or sides of a few participants heads may also be seen.
- The Siena Hotel is a Four Diamond hotel and restaurant located minutes from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education. It not only has beautiful guest rooms, but also Il Palio Ristorante, where you can experience gourmet dinning in a relaxed, informal environment. The Siena provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the University, the Friday Center, and the downtown Chapel Hill area.
